  • A prioritized shopping list of cheap items and affordable substitutes that cover core needs.

  • A progression plan from level 1 to endgame maps with specific breakpoints.

  • Practical tips on crafting, trading, and using league mechanics to maximize value.

Build concept and strengths

This Hollow Palm Deadeye centers on combining the Hollow Palm skill’s high physical and elemental scaling with the Deadeye ascendancy’s projectile and attack speed benefits. While Hollow Palm is often associated with spirit or spectral weapons, this version leans into unarmed power, using gloves and other low-cost gear to amplify damage, critical sustain, and mobility.

Core strengths

  • Fast map clear and safe single-target with proper cooldown management.

  • Strong mobility and uptime due to projectile and attack-speed buffs.

  • Highly budget-friendly: key performance gains come from skill tree choices and cheap rares rather than expensive uniques.

  • Flexible — can pivot into crit, elemental, or hybrid defenses depending on gear.

Primary trade-offs

  • Damage ceiling is lower without top-tier uniques or expensive crafts.

  • Requires solid positioning and rotation discipline for late endgame bosses.

Key terms used in this guide

  • Hollow Palm: the central attack skill that benefits from attack speed, on-hit effects, and projectile bonuses.

  • Deadeye: ascendancy granting global projectile and volley benefits that boost Hollow Palm’s damage and speed.

  • Power charges: essential for damage and crit chance on attacks.

  • Unarmed: using gloves or specific items that free up weapons for other bonuses; often involves using melee-style attacks with no held weapon.

  • Cheap items: low-cost rare items, easily crafted or purchased from trade channels at modest currency investment.

Why Deadeye for Hollow Palm

The Deadeye ascendancy provides multiple advantages that align with Hollow Palm’s mechanics:

  • Projectile damage and speed improvements translate directly into increased damage per second.

  • Volley and projectile spread options help Hollow Palm reach more enemies with each activation, improving clear speed.

  • If you choose the right nodes, Deadeye also provides reliable increases to critical chance and power charge generation, which boosts damage without expensive gear.

This guide focuses on the Deadeye’s capacity to scale attack speed and projectile count while using affordable measures to keep survivability high.

Passive skill tree priorities

The passive tree focuses on three pillars: damage scaling, survivability, and utility.

Primary targets (in order):

  1. Attack speed and projectile damage nodes — these are the first purchase to improve clear rate.

  2. Life, life regeneration, and physical damage reduction — establish survivability early.

  3. Critical chance and multiplier nodes — optional, used when shifting toward crit builds.

  4. Power charge generation and modifiers — increases damage reliably without unique reliance.

  5. Elemental and chaos resistances as needed for map mods.

Key clusters to path toward:

  • Large life clusters near the Templar/Scion border.

  • Projectile damage clusters on the Ranger side that synergize with Deadeye.

  • Attack speed clusters within the Duelist and Ranger areas.

  • Notable keystones: avoid Glassblowing or other high-risk keystones unless you have budget for proper defenses.

Suggested passive milestones (goal-oriented)

  • Level 30: Reach ~1.2–1.4 attack speed multiplier and 85+ life.

  • Level 60: Secure major projectile damage clusters and a 1k+ life pool.

  • Level 85+: Stack final damage and life nodes to reach 1.8k–2.5k life depending on your defensive gear.

Ascendancy path and choices

Ascendancy order and nodes (Deadeye)

  1. Gathering Winds (first): Prioritize attack speed and projectile bonuses; this improves clear speed early.

  2. Far Shot: Increased projectile damage and accuracy scaling; great for boss damage and mapping.

  3. Tailwind or Ricochet (choose based on playstyle): Tailwind offers mobility and evasion which suits fragile setups; Ricochet increases projectile count and bounce which is ideal for clear.

  4. Barrage synergy node (late pick): If your playstyle leans into volleying, pick the node that improves volley/projectile frequency.

Why this order:

  • Start with consistent DPS and clear speed increases, then add sustain/mobility and finally the high-end projectile density options.

Gem setup — skills and supports

Primary attack setup (Endgame)

  • Hollow Palm (6-link core)

    • Melee Physical Damage Support

    • Multistrike Support or Rapid Strikes Support (use Rapid Strikes if you can sustain charges)

    • Increased Critical Strikes Support (if you go crit) or Brutality Support (if non-crit)

    • Deadly Ailments Support (for bleed/poison conversions if desired) or Elemental Damage with Attacks Support (if leaning elemental)

    • Fortify Support or Concentrated Effect Support (Fortify gives defense; Concentrated Effect increases single-target damage)

Movement and utility

  • Dash or Leap Slam (linked to Faster Attacks or Second Wind) — mobility for map play and boss dodging.

  • Flame Dash or Smoke Mine — for extra escape or repositioning.

  • Flesh and Stone or Steelskin — for burst mitigation during boss encounters.

Auras and buffs

  • Pride (if life leech and mitigation handled) or Malevolence (for skill duration builds)

  • Hatred if you use elemental scaling the Hollow Palm converts to cold/elemental; otherwise use Haste for attack speed.

  • Herald of Ash or Herald of Ice depending on elemental leaning.

Defensive spells

  • Immortal Call with Cast when Damage Taken (CWDT) support capped appropriately.

  • Vaal Grace or Vaal Haste — emergency offensive/defensive boosts for tough encounters.

Movement/quality-of-life

  • Increased Duration if using buffs with duration.

  • Empower or Enhance to level crucial gems when you can afford it.

Core mechanics and rotation

Simple rotation for mapping

  1. Open with mobility in, get the pack into a choke point.

  2. Activate Hollow Palm and hold sustain — Hollow Palm’s AOE and projectile density will clear small-to-medium packs.

  3. Use Haste and any on-demand buffs for increased attack speed.

  4. Dash or Leap to reposition, then repeat until map is clear.

Boss rotation

  1. Start with defensive buffs (Fortify, Immortal Call on CWDT) and main sustain aura off-cooldown.

  2. Apply Hollow Palm for damage windows and maintain power charges.

  3. When the boss casts unavoidable high-damage mechanics, use a mobility skill to dodge and reapply buffs.

  4. Bring flasks timed to burst moments: Granite for physical mitigation, Basalt for heavy hits, and Quartz for phasing.

Charge management

  • Keep an eye on power charges (if using charge generation). Generating consistent charges is essential — consider items that grant charges on kill or attack to keep uptime high.

Budget gear progression and cheap item list

Goals of the cheap gear route

  • Replace expensive uniques with well-rolled rares that provide life, resistances, attack speed, and physical damage.

  • Use easily attainable crafted mods (bench crafts, essences) to mimic unique effects when possible.

  • Prioritize life and resistances early; offensive scaling later.

Core cheap item slots and recommended mods

  • Gloves (key unarmed slot): Look for + to attack speed, increased physical damage, + to maximum life, and increase to projectile damage. Cheap rares with life and attack speed outperform many pricier uniques early.

  • Helmet: + to maximum life, increased elemental resistances, and any life regeneration or armor/evasion hybrid.

  • Chest: High life and resistances; life + increased life recovery or + to all attributes is fine early.

  • Boots: Look for movement speed (at least +25%), life, and resistances. Energy shield boots are an option if you hybrid with ES later.

  • Rings and Amulet: Life rolls, resistances, crit chance (optional), or increased physical damage. Cheap essences or vendor crafts can produce useful rings quickly.

  • Belt: Stygian Vise base if you can, useful for socketing an Abyss jewel; otherwise any life + resists rare belt.

  • Jewels: Small, easy-to-acquire jewels with + to life and attack speed or projectile damage. Crafted abyss jewels for increased damage on socketed gems are powerful and cheap if you farm Abyss fragments early.

Itemization tips

  • Use essences to boost key defensive stats when needed.

  • Prioritize +life and resistances until you reach a comfortable baseline (e.g., 1.6k+ life).

  • Look for cheap influences or meta-craft substitutions only when you can afford them; for most players, a well-rolled rare outperforms an early splurge on a unique.

Example cheap item shopping list (affordable targets)

  • Rare gloves with 30–40 life, 20–30% increased attack speed, and +10–20% increased projectile damage.

  • Rare boots with movement speed +30%, 40–60 life, and 30%+ resistances.

  • Stygian Vise or leather belt with 70+ life plus resistances.

  • Two life rings with +20–30 life and resistances; craft with a single mod or use essences.

  • A rare amulet with + to physical damage, life, and resistances if possible.

Crafting priorities and bench crafts

Cheap but high-impact crafts

  • Bench craft +1% to all elemental resistances on gloves/boots to reach cap for map mods.

  • Remove/replace a single suffix on boots or gloves to add a life roll; bench crafts help here too.

  • Use an Essence of Greed or Essence of Anger for life and damage on gloves and rings respectively.

Crafting path

  1. Use alchemy and chromatic/regal crafting sparingly early.

  2. Use essences and bench crafts for targeted improvements.

  3. When you have more currency, use fossil crafting for weapon-like gloves—physical fossils can add substantial damage without breaking the bank.

Bench craft priorities

  • Add +life or increase attack speed on gloves/boots first.

  • Add movement speed to boots if missing.

  • Add socket link quality to 6-link gloves or chest when you can (prioritize hitting a playable 5-link then upgrading).

Levelling guide and milestones

Level 1–30: Early game fundamentals

  • Use life-heavy rare gear and focus on leveling Hollow Palm as soon as available.

  • Use movement skills to avoid damage and unlock Deadeye ascendancy at the appropriate level.

  • Push for ~60–80 life by level 12–20; prioritize life on gear and resistances.

Level 30–60: Solidify the build

  • Acquire your core aura(s) and first support gem links.

  • Aim to have a functioning 4-link for Hollow Palm by level 40.

  • Buy or craft decent gloves with attack speed and life.

Level 60–80: Entering maps

  • Finish key passive clusters and pick your Deadeye ascendancy nodes.

  • Reach 1k–1.6k life depending on playstyle.

  • Push for a 5-link Hollow Palm with Fortify or Brutality.

Level 80–100: Endgame refinement

  • Maximize life and finalize your 6-link.

  • Acquire or craft jewels and bench-craft as needed for final boosts.

  • Work toward map-specific resist cap and flask setup.

Major level breakpoints

  • Level 38–40: Full access to high-tier support gems and improved auras.

  • Level 60: Make sure you have proper auras and some map progression capability.

  • Level 85+: Ready for tougher Shaper/Elder influence maps or comparable endgame bosses.

Flasks: the cheapest bulk defensive upgrade

Flask priorities

  • Life flask with increased recovery and instant life roll.

  • Granite or Basalt flask for physical mitigation.

  • Quartz flask for phasing and dodge while mapping.

  • Jade or Stibnite for evasion/illumination as backup options.

Cheap flask craft approach

  • Use alchemy to upgrade early flasks, then use glassblower’s baubles when needed to increase quality.

  • Use prefix crafting on flasks to maintain instant recovery; these are affordable and highly effective.

Suggested flask setup

  • Life Flask (Instant recovery roll + remove bleeding if possible)

  • Granite Flask (physical damage reduction)

  • Quartz Flask (phasing)

  • Stibnite Flask (blind enemies and increase evade)

  • Jade Flask (avoid chaos/elemental hits, optional)

Map strategy and atlas progression

Mapping priorities

  • Start with lower tier maps to gather fragments and build currency.

  • Run maps with layout and mods you can handle — avoid high reflect or elemental weakness until well geared.

  • Use density-boosting sextants or scarabs if you have cheap options; otherwise focus on quantity from your atlas passive choices.

End-of-league shortcuts

  • Farm t13–t15 maps for currency and fossils to craft gloves and jewels.

  • Use breaches, Abyss, or Delirium encounters to boost fragment gains for crafting.

  • Target influenced maps only when you can sustain the extra difficulty.

Atlas passive choices

  • Choose nodes that improve quantity and rarity early to fund upgrades.

  • Later, pick nodes that improve drops of specific item types you need (gloves, belts, jewels).

Boss strategies and defensive tricks

Boss defense fundamentals

  • Keep Fortify up; it reduces incoming physical damage and is a cheap investment compared to an expensive unique that grants similar mitigation.

  • Use on-demand invulnerability: Vaal skills and movement abilities help dodge boss mechanics.

  • Time Immortal Call procs to last through high-damage windows; CWDT combined with decent armor and life helps cheapen this defense.

Boss fight routine

  1. Buff with auras and Fortify before engagement.

  2. Maintain Hollow Palm rotation while watching boss telegraphs.

  3. Move when the boss telegraphs high-damage attacks; prioritize survival over DPS.

  4. Use flasks at anticipated damage spikes — a well-timed granite/quartz combo is often enough.

Common boss pitfalls

  • Sitting in persistent damage auras — reposition.

  • Not refreshing Fortify or other defensive cooldowns before a phase change.

  • Overextending on power charge usage without accounting for mechanics that remove charges.

Trading and economy advice (end-of-league shopping)

Where to spend currency first

  • Gloves and chest with big life rolls and attack speed are your priority.

  • Jewels with +life and attack speed or projectile damage next.

  • Boots and belts to hit resist caps and mobility goals.

Cheap ways to obtain useful mods

  • Farm Abyss for abyss jewels and unique drops that are cheap early.

  • Use the trade market to buy well-rolled rares undercutting averages — look for opportunities in global trade channels.

  • Vendor recipes can sometimes net early currency; keep an eye on common vendor conversions for quick leveling.

When to splurge

  • If you have accumulated sizeable currency (e.g., exalts), buy a single high-impact unique or a crafted glove with fossil crafting; otherwise continue with rares and crafts.

Advanced options and budget-friendly transitions

Hybrid crit transition

  • If you accumulate crit multi and chance on rings and amulet cheaply, you can transition to crit by reallocating passive points and adding Increased Critical Strikes support.

  • This increases damage substantially but requires more defensive investment.

Elemental pivot

  • Use conversion nodes or items to convert a portion of Hollow Palm’s physical damage to elemental, enabling heralds and elemental auras to scale damage.

  • This pivot can be cheaper than buying top-end physical uniques and can be achieved with a few crafted items and jewels.

Energy shield hybrid

  • Add a few ES pieces like cheap energy shield boots to benefit from hybrid defenses. This requires more complex passive allocation but can buy survivability cheaply if done carefully.

Sample budget equipment list (end-of-league ready)

Head: Rare helmet with +70+ life, resistances, and life regen; affordable crafted or essence rolled. Chest: Rare body armor with 150+ life and high resistances. Gloves: Rare attack-speed gloves with +30–50 life and projectile damage. Boots: Rare boots +30% movement speed, +50–80 life, resistances. Amulet: Rare amulet with life and increased physical damage or attack speed. Rings: Two rare rings with 20–40 life and resistances. Belt: Stygian Vise or rare belt with 80–120 life and good resistances. Jewels: 3 x small rare jewels with life and damage mods; 1 Abyss jewel that adds damage to socketed hollow palm.

Example 6-link and budget alternatives

Ideal 6-link (Hollow Palm)

  • Hollow Palm — Melee Physical Damage — Brutality — Multistrike — Increased Critical Strikes — Deadly Ailments

Budget 4-5 link (temporary)

  • Hollow Palm — Melee Physical Damage — Brutality — Multistrike

  • Add Increased Critical Strikes or Deadly Ailments when you can afford a 5th link.

Playstyle tips and quality-of-life

  • Always kite packs into choke points where volley/projectile density can hit everything.

  • Keep movement flasks to prioritize escape options.

  • Use friend groups or map parties to boost map clear and run faster; this is a cheap way to scale currency gains.

  • Rotate your auras depending on the map: switch Hatred/Heralds for single-target or pack-heavy maps accordingly.

Troubleshooting common issues

Low clear speed

  • Check links and support choices; ensure you have attack speed and projectile damage supports active.

  • Re-evaluate jewels for projectile damage and attack speed.

  • Use more density maps or buy sextants/scarabs to increase pack sizes.

Squishy survivability

  • Add life and resistances; rework passive points for life clusters.

  • Use Fortify, Granite, and Immortal Call more aggressively.

  • Consider a Stygian Vise with an Abyss jewel that grants life or damage mitigation.

Boss difficulty

  • Improve timing of CWDT and flask usage.

  • Consider adding increased single-target support like Concentrated Effect in a dedicated single-target linked setup.

  • Swap certain damage supports for Fortify in the 6-link during boss fights.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Hollow Palm a good choice for a budget Deadeye?

Hollow Palm scales well with attack speed and projectile modifiers, which are widely available on affordable rare items. The Deadeye ascendancy amplifies these strengths, letting you exploit cheap gear that focuses on attack speed, life, and projectile damage rather than expensive uniques or heavy crafting.

Can I run this build without any unique items?

Yes. The design favors strong rare pieces and targeted crafting. You can reach a comfortable endgame capability using rares with life, attack speed, resistances, and a few well-placed jewels.

How do I manage power charges cheaply?

Use passive nodes that increase charge generation and consider inexpensive amulets or rings that grant charges on kill or on hit. Some cheap uniques grant charges but are optional; prioritize passive solutions and affordable mods first.

Is this build viable for bosses like the Eater of Worlds, Shaper or Sirus?

Yes, with proper gearing, flasks, and a disciplined rotation, the build can handle major bosses. Single-target damage is improved via concentrated supports and careful flask timing, though the absolute top-end damage ceiling is lower than highly expensive meta builds.

When should I start crafting expensive pieces?

Only when you’ve reached a stage where cheap upgrades no longer provide meaningful returns. Prioritize cheap crafts first (essences, bench crafts). If you have surplus currency, consider a single high-impact purchase like a well-crafted pair of gloves.

How do I maximize survivability for HC leagues?

Focus on life and resistances early, use Fortify, and ensure Immortal Call + CWDT is properly configured. Avoid aggressive keystones that amplify damage taken and use movement skills to dodge big telegraphed hits.

Boss-specific rotation guides — Shaper, Eater of Worlds, and Sirus

Each boss requires different priorities: positioning, timing of defensive procs, and single-target focus. Below are concrete, repeatable rotations tailored to a HOLLOW PALM Deadeye with the recommended budget setup. These assume you have Fortify, Immortal Call (CWDT), Haste/Hatred as auras, and a functional 6-link or 5-link for single-target.

Shaper rotation (Phase-focused, heavy mechanics)

  • Pre-fight setup

    • Apply auras: Haste + Hatred (or Pride if safe).

    • Ensure Fortify is active and Immortal Call CWDT is armed.

    • Flask setup: Life (instant), Granite (physical mitigation), Quartz (phasing), Basalt (extra phys), one utility (Vaal Haste or Vaal Grace if available).

  • Phase 1 (opening DPS window)

    1. Start with movement to the safe side of the arena to bait Shaper’s charges into predictable paths.

    2. Hold Hollow Palm steady; maintain power charges.

    3. Use Granite + Basalt as Shaper performs high-physical attack sequences. Time Granite to overlap the damage window.

    4. Use Quartz to avoid projectiles or phase through brief telegraphed line attacks.

  • Phase 2 (orb and portal mechanics)

    1. When Shaper summons orbs/portals, toggle movement and reposition so projectiles pass behind you; Hollow Palm benefits from a stationary volley into the boss, then step out.

    2. Use Vaal Haste/Vaal Grace on anticipated heavy damage to spike DPS and survivability simultaneously.

    3. Rely on Immortal Call CWDT to soak sudden burst damage — avoid overlapping flasks too early.

  • Phase 3 (high-damage/teleport windows)

    1. Keep Hollow Palm on the boss during safe windows and disengage for telegraphed wipe mechanics.

    2. Use flasks proactively 1–2 seconds before Shaper’s large fatal animations.

    3. Reapply Fortify before re-engaging; maintain position control and avoid standing near the edges.

  • Additional tips

    • Save one instant flask charge for emergency near-death moments.

    • Time your movement to bait the Shaper into using less dangerous attacks while you burn phases.

Eater of Worlds rotation (sustained burst, rapid phase switching)

  • Pre-fight setup

    • Auras: Haste and Hatred (or Haste + Pride if you need more consistent damage).

    • Flasks: Life instant, Granite, Stibnite (to blind adds), Basalt or Quartz. Use a movement flask if needed.

  • Opening and add control

    1. Open with Hollow Palm aimed at Eater’s center to cleave through body + adds simultaneously.

    2. Use Stibnite or Quartz to create windows to reposition while Hollow Palm keeps damage up.

    3. Push for quick add clear: the Deadeye’s projectile spread will help handle the peripheral tentacles, so position to hit as many pieces as possible each swing.

  • Single-target burn windows

    1. Build power charges and maintain them into the burn window.

    2. Use Granite + Basalt stacked for anticipated high-physical sequences.

    3. If the boss spreads debuffs or pools, step out immediately and use movement skill to reset.

  • Reactive mitigation

    1. Use Immortal Call proactively when you notice multi-hit patterns start.

    2. Avoid standing in cone or circular ground effects — they spike damage quickly.

    3. Time Quartz or phase to dodge large projectile volleys.

  • Additional tips

    • The Eater punishes standing still. Use a short dash in between Hollow Palm bursts to stay alive without losing too much DPS.

    • Keep a single-target concentrated support ready if your 6-link has a convertible slot for burst (Concentrated Effect) to compress the burn window.

Sirus / Endgame guardian rotation (extreme telegraphs and multi-stage)

  • Pre-fight setup

    • Ensure Fortify, Immortal Call, and at least one Vaal (Haste or Grace) are ready.

    • Flasks: Life (instant), Granite, Basalt, Quartz, Vaal Soul/Onslaught if available.

  • Opening phase (safe DPS windows)

    1. Establish a rhythm: two to three Hollow Palm bursts, then reposition. Sirus punishes long stationary phases.

    2. Save Vaal Haste for a later phase where you can apply sustained damage for 6–8 seconds.

    3. Use Quartz for inevitable projectile-heavy phases.

  • Mid-fight (mechanic heavy)

    1. When Sirus telegraphs clones or portals, reposition to minimize additional sources of projectile hits.

    2. Use movement skills liberally — Hollow Palm's DPS remains high while you briefly dash.

    3. Time Granite + Basalt for high-physical obliteration windows.

  • Final phase (high-risk burst windows)

    1. Preserve one or two instant life charges for critical windows.

    2. Activate Vaal Haste / Vaal Grace as soon as the final phase begins to maximize DPS during limited vulnerability.

    3. Keep Immortal Call stacked; overlap Granite when Sirus performs the signature big-hit sequence.

  • Additional tips

    • Learn Sirus’ animation queues — much of surviving comes down to recognizing the windup and preemptively moving.

    • If you’re struggling, temporarily drop a DPS support in the 6-link for an extra defensive support (Fortify in the link) to increase survivability.

General bossing micro-tips for Hollow Palm Deadeye

  • Power charges: keep them up. If your gear can’t reliably generate charges, prioritize passive nodes that grant charges on kill or on critical strikes.

  • Fortify timing: always have Fortify re-applied before entering a predictable damage window. A single Fortify loss often equals a major life hit.

  • Flask choreography: sequence flasks so that Granite/Basalt overlap with Immortal Call windows and Quartz/Stibnite for dodge/phasing.

  • Movement = survival: with Deadeye’s projectile scaling, you’ll rarely lose huge DPS by stepping a few paces mid-rotation; do it often.

  • Emergency protocol: if HP falls below a critical threshold, cancel attack, use instant life flask, dash away to reset CWDT and Immortal Call, then re-engage.

  • Shaper: Haste+Hatred; Fortify up; Granite+Quartz timed; bait charges; Vaal Haste for burst windows.

  • Eater: Stibnite for add control; quick repositioning; stack Granite/Basalt during burst; avoid pools.

  • Sirus: Rhythm of burst + reposition; save Vaal Haste final phase; Granite + Immortal Call overlap on big hits.
